Theresa May set to 'bang heads together' in bid to end Tory feuds on Brexit

Theresa May set to 'bang heads together' in bid to end Tory feuds on Brexit

Theresa May is preparing to read the riot act to feuding Cabinet ministers when they gather for special Brexit summit this week.
The Prime Minister has ordered ministers to draw up plans ahead of Wednesday’s meeting on how they can make a success of leaving the EU .
Mrs May is ready to “bang heads together” and call an end to the turf war between International Trade Secretary Liam Fox, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Brexit Secretary David Davis.
A fresh split has also emerged amid reports Chancellor Philip Hammond is resisting calls for Britain to leave the single market.
Allies of Mr Hammond say he is taking a “flexible approach” but is concerned about the impact on Britain’s financial sector if we lose access to the single market.

A source close to the Chancellor said he was looking maintaining access to the single market on “on a sector by sector basis”.
“A key priority is going to be financial services for us. For the Germans, the automotive industry is going to be key,” the source told the Sunday Times.
Other Cabinet ministers believe that leaving the market is essential if the UK is to get back control of its borders and limit migration by EU nations.
But Lib Dem leader Tim Farron said Britain must retain its membership of the single market.
“Britain must remain a member of the single market, not only have access to it, or our economy will suffer even more,” he said.
Mrs May has said “ Brexit means Brexit” but has yet to spell out what this will mean in practice.

Wednesday’s meeting at the PM’s country retreat of Chequers, will discuss the timetable for leaving and when Britain should trigger Article 50 - the legal mechanism for a country to quit the EU.
Mr Davis and Dr Fox want Mrs May to invoke Article 50 early in 2017.
A Downing Street source said Brexit was “top of the in tray” for the Prime Minister as she begins her first full week back at work in Westminster after her summer holiday in Switzerland.
Mrs May then flies to China for the G20 summit of world leaders where she will have her first meeting with Barack Obama since becoming PM.
Meanwhile, former Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith has said low-skilled migrants should only be allowed to come to Britain if there are no British workers who can do the jobs they seek.

Congratulations are in order for R&B superstar Frank Ocean, who has made it to the top of the Billboard 200 on just his second try. The singer-songwriter’s sophomore album Blonde has just been announced as the No. 1 album in the U.S., which should come as no surprise to those that have been following the story of his latest project.
Blonde (or Blond, depending on where you are looking at the title) has made quite an impressive splash on the Billboard 200 this week, debuting in the top spot with a sizable beginning. The confusingly-titled record kicks off with 276,000 equivalent copies shifted, which easily makes it one of the biggest beginnings of 2016. In fact, when looking at the largest debut weeks thus far into this year, only two titles have managed to secure larger opening frames: Drake’s Views, which started with over one million units moved, and BeyoncĂ©’s Lemonade, which began with 653,000 equivalent units.
Fans of Ocean’s debut album Channel Orange have been waiting for Blonde (which was originally supposed to be called Boys Don’t Cry) for years, and now that it has arrived, they are coming out in droves to support the Apple AAPL  Music exclusive, which has caused controversy from the moment it arrived.
Blonde marks Ocean’s first turn in the penthouse on the Billboard, though he’s been close before. Channel Orangedebuted in the runner-up position with 131,000 copies sold. While it only had one top 40 hit—the critically adored “Thinkin Bout You,” which peaked at No. 32 here in the U.S.—the record made Ocean a star, both in and out of the R&B world.Blonde might not yet have a radio smash, as lead single “Nikes” was just properly released, but the album likely doesn’t need to be powered by traditional means, as his fanbase is dedicated and massive.
That year after his album was released, the crooner was nominated for six Grammys, including Best New Artist, Record of the Year (for “Thinkin Bout You”), and Album of the Year, though he only ended up taking home two trophies: Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, thanks to his vocal contributions to Kanye West and Jay Z’s “No Church In The Wild.” While it’s only been out for a week or so, it isn’t difficult to imagine that Blonde is already in the running for at least a few Grammys at the upcoming 2017 ceremony.
