Dolly Parton Aiming for Her First No. 1 in 25 Years on Top Country Albums Chart

Dolly Parton Aiming for Her First No. 1 in 25 Years on Top Country Albums Chart

Dolly Parton attends the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 3, 2016 in Las Vegas.
If it does arrive atop the sales-based tally, it will mark the legend’s first No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart in over 25 years. She last led the list with Eagle When She Flies, for one week, on the May 18, 1991-dated list.
In total, Parton has racked up six No. 1s on the Top Country Albums chart. She also topped the list with Trio (Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris), 9 to 5 and Odd JobsHeartbreakerHere You Come Again and New Harvest… First Gathering.
Pure & Simple is Parton’s 43rd studio album and was released Aug. 19 by the diva’s own Dolly Records and RCA Nashville, through a new joint venture with Sony Music Nashville.
